DISPLAX

Your own in-store TV channel

Your screens, working for you

Most businesses with televisions use them to play generic cable: they pay somebody else to occupy their own wall. DISPLAX turns those screens into a channel of your own — your content, scheduled, identical across every location and connected to your point of sale.

Where this starts

You already have the screen. What you do not have is the channel

A cable TV in the waiting area sells nothing, and on top of that it interrupts your message with other people’s advertising. The screen is already paid for, the electricity is already being spent and the customer is already watching: the only thing missing is that what appears there should be yours.

  • You advertise for othersCable puts third-party commercials right in front of your captive audience.
  • Nobody updates itLast month’s promotion is still up because changing it means a trip to every location.
  • You spend on printEvery price or promotion change is another batch of banners and posters headed for the bin.
  • And you pay the subscriptionThe cable bill is a fixed cost that gives you nothing back.

How it works

Three pieces, and we supply two of them

Nobody has to learn a new tool for the screen to change: you approve the content, we publish it.

The CMS, hosted by us

The console where your screens, media and schedules live runs on our servers, backups and updates included. You log in from a browser whenever you like; if you would rather never log in, we run it for you.

The player, on every screen

A computer the size of a book behind the television, running our own player. It starts by itself on power-up, connects to the CMS and downloads what it is scheduled to show — and if it loses internet for a while, it keeps playing the last thing it downloaded.

The screen — the one you already have

The television already on the wall will do. If one has to be bought, mounted or cabled, we handle that too — that is the on-site part, the one our name is built on.

The channel

One divided screen does the work of three

The screen layout is built from regions, so you are not stuck with one full-screen video: you can run your catalog large, a price column beside it and a news ticker along the bottom, all at once and all yours.

  • Regions: full screen, columns, a bottom ticker and your logo animated in a corner.
  • Scheduled: breakfast at 8, lunch at 1, and the weekend promotion only on Friday and Saturday.
  • By audience: the screen in the waiting area does not say the same thing as the one at the counter.
  • Any content: video, images, text, weather, social feeds, PDFs, web pages and data from your own system.
  • Hands off: once the schedule is loaded, the screen needs nobody to touch it.

Formats

It is not always a TV on a wall

The same channel adapts to whatever fixture makes sense for your business.

Television

The classic, on the sales floor, at reception or in the waiting area.

Video wall

Several screens behaving as one, for impact at the entrance or in the window.

Smart mirror

A mirror that also shows content: fitting rooms, salons, optical stores.

Tablets

Lookup and content within reach, on a counter or a table.

In-room channel

For hotels and hospitals: a welcome, your services and house information on the TV in the room.

Customer-facing screen

The one the customer watches at the register while they are being served — and that is where your Odoo comes in.

Multiple locations

No more walking a USB stick from store to store

Publish once and it appears everywhere. And when they should not all say the same thing, you group them: the northern stores with their promotion, the downtown ones with theirs, the flagship on its own schedule.

  • Same message, same minuteAn end to the game of telephone between locations.
  • Screen groupsBy region, by format or by time of day, whichever suits.
  • Status of every screenThe console tells you which is on, which lost its network and what each one is playing.
  • No site visit to change contentWe come out for installation and maintenance, not to swap a promotion.

PUBLIX

And if you want, the screen pays for itself

PUBLIX is the DISPLAX monetization module: you charge other businesses to appear on your channel. Your coffee supplier, the travel agency on the corner, the lab that sends you patients — people who already want to be in front of your customers.

  • Sellable slots: you decide which region and which hours are for rent, and at what price.
  • The advertiser’s own content with its own schedule and its own expiry date.
  • Play reports: how many times their ad ran and on which screens, so you can invoice it.
  • The channel stays yours: you decide who gets in and how much room they take.

Connected to your system

The screen knows what is happening at the register

This is where DISPLAX stops being signage and becomes part of your operation. We wrote the bridge to Odoo ourselves and it is published on the official store.

Cart mirroring

The customer sees on screen what the cashier is scanning, with prices and running total. Fewer disputes and fewer "I did not order that."

Recommendations on the spot

Based on what is in the cart, the screen suggests the add-on. Cross-selling without the salesperson having to push it.

A spoken thank-you

When the sale closes, the screen says goodbye with audio generated by artificial intelligence. A small touch that gets noticed.

Video wall at rest

With no sale in progress, the video wall cycles through your online catalog with a QR code to the web store. It stops sitting dark for half an hour between customers.

Data from your operation

Prices, availability, current promotions or the number now being served come straight from the system, not from a file somebody has to update.

And with ANALITIX, it reacts

If you also measure the sales floor, the screen responds to what is happening in front of it: the group that stopped, the dead hour, the customer on their way out. See ANALITIX →

What almost nobody else offers

The player is ours, and that matters to you

Most signage providers resell somebody else’s software and cannot fix anything under the hood. We compile and publish our own, so when something goes wrong on a screen we fix it in the code, not in a ticket to a third party.

It is built on Xibo, the open-source digital signage foundation, and we publish it as free software under the AGPLv3 — with its original authors’ notices intact. If you ever stop working with us, the code is still there.

  • It recovers by itselfOur own watchdog notices if the player has frozen and brings it back up. A screen frozen on a Sunday should not wait until Monday.
  • Starts on power-upThe power cuts out, comes back, and the screen returns to its schedule without anyone touching it.
  • Screensaver modeOn a computer that is also used for work, the channel takes over as the screensaver once it goes idle.
  • Updates remotelySilent, unattended installs: nobody has to visit each location clicking next-next-next.
  • Restart from the consoleIf a screen starts misbehaving, you restart it from the CMS without calling anyone at the store.

How it gets deployed

We come out, install it and leave it running

Like everything we do: at your business, not over the phone.

Site visit and plan

Which screens, where they are seen best, what cabling and what network is needed. We leave with the scope and the cost in writing.

Installation

Screens, mounts, players and networking. We install it and leave it running the same day.

Registration and schedule

We register every screen in the CMS, build the region layout and load the first schedule together with you.

Content and follow-through

Our team produces the content and keeps it current. If you would rather do it yourself, we train you and you keep control.

What it takes

Less than you think

You do not need new televisions or a special internet connection. In most cases we start with what is already installed and a single screen, so you can see how it behaves before scaling up.

Where it comes from

Our first screen was a jewelry store in Morelia

DISPLAX did not come out of a catalog: it came about because we needed to solve this in our own businesses. Since 2019 we have been building and maintaining our own player, and every version ran on our screens before it reached a client’s.

  • At home firstOur own jewelry store, workshop and retail: that is where it was all tested.
  • One party accountableScreen, player, CMS, content and the connection to your system.
  • Support from the people who built itYou talk to whoever wrote the player’s code.
